Job Specification:
Duties and responsibilities at this level entail:
- Carrying out implementation, monitoring and periodic review of procedures and standards for undertaking interior design and construction work;
- Ensuring proper custody of interior design procedures and manuals;
- Carrying out quality assurance and offer guidance to other interior designers on interior design works;
- Coordinating, supervising and reviewing of work done by other interior designers to the level of Senior Interior Designer;
- Participating in feasibility study and planning for interior design projects;
- Reviewing of interior designs, specifications and drawings done by external consultants contracted by NHC;
- Reviewing of tender documentation interior designs;
- Participating in evaluation of contractual claims;
- Liaising with necessary agencies/authorities for inspections and approvals of interior designs aspects;
- Participating in procurement processes for housing projects;
- Undertaking monitoring and evaluation of interior designs projects;
- Supervising interior design projects to ensure quality and adherence to specifications;
- Undertaking stakeholder engagement for interior design projects and matters;
- Preparing material schedules and Labour costs for maintenance works in liaison with Estates Department;
- Representing Interior Design Section and participating in technical, planning and marketing committees in the Corporation;
- Participating in research on interior designs, technology and materials;
- Participating in training of students and interns attached to Interior Design Section;
Person Specification:
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- At least eight (8) years relevant work experience three (3) of which should have been in a supervisory role;
- Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
- Master’s degree in Interior Design or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
- Corporate Member of the Architectural Association of Kenya or any other recognized professional body in good standing;
- Registered by the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS) as Professional Architect;
- Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from recognized institution;
- Proficiency in computer applications; and
- Fulfills the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution.
