Job Specification:
Duties and responsibilities at this level entail:
- Participating in planning and analysis for housing and infrastructure projects;
- Preparation of cost estimates for housing and infrastructure projects;
- Preparation of project financial estimates (expenditure & income) and scheduling to inform the Corporation’s budgeting process;
- Prepare tender and contract documents for housing and infrastructure projects;
- Participate in procurement processes for housing and infrastructure projects;
- Measure works and prepare interim payment valuations and certificates ;
- Undertake valuations of variations arising from site instructions and/or revision of designs and specifications;
- Participate in evaluation of contractual claims;
- Undertake financial appraisals to monitor and control costs;
- Measure works and prepare final accounts and certificates for project closure.
- Collect, maintain and update data on construction rates and prices of building materials.
- Prepare material schedules and labour costs for maintenance works.
- Provide necessary documents, expertise and participate in dispute resolution mechanism.
- Determine the selling price of completed housing units.
- Guide Quantity Survey Assistants in execution of their duties.
Person Specification:
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- At least eight (8) years relevant work experience three (3) of which should have been in a supervisory role;
- Bachelors Degree in Quantity Survey, Building Economics or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Masters Degree in Quantity Survey, Building Economics, Business Administration, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Corporate Member of the Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya or any other recognized professional body in good standing;
- Registered by the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS) as a Professional Quantity Surveyor;
- Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from recognized institution;
- Proficiency in computer applications; and
- Fulfills the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution.
