General Manager – Research, Product Development & Capacity Building - NHC/51/2024

Job Specification:

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

  1. Formulating, implementing and reviewing policies, strategies procedures and guidelines on research, innovation and capacity building (development);
  2. Coordinating research in housing related matters
  3. Ensuring the collection and dissemination of information concerning housing and related matters
  4. Ensuing patent registration;
  5. Promoting conducive environment for innovation;
  6. Overseeing training and capacity building
  7. Ensuring repairs and maintenance of machines and equipment within the production plant;
  8. Promoting production of new building technologies;
  9. Ensuring compliance with regulatory and other requirements on research, innovation and production;
  10. Promoting research and use of affordable building technologies;
  11. Monitoring and ensuring quality standards of the Corporation’s building products;

Person Specification:

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  1. At least fifteen (15) years relevant work experience five (5) of which should have been in a management role;
  2. Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  3. Masters Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  4. Membership with relevant professional body such as Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK), Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK), Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK), Institute of Construction Project Managers (ICPM), Association of Construction Managers of Kenya (ACMK;
  5. Registration with relevant professional regulatory bodies such as Board of Registration of Architects & Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS), Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK), Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board (KETRB);
  6. Valid professional practicing license;
  7. Leadership Course lasting not less than six (4) weeks from a recognized institution; and
  8. Proficiency in computer applications.
  9. Fulfill the requirements of Chapters six (6) of the Constitution
